The World We Want Foundation evolved from the inspirational stories presented in the award-winning documentary: The World We Want. The captivating stars of the film are inspiring Young Global Citizens struggling to improve their communities, their countries and their lives.

Shot on location in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Russia, Senegal and the United States, the film shows students working for changes in their communities that include banning teenage gambling, lowering taxation, creating a town constitution, securing clean drinking water and more. The World We Want captures the teenagers’ dedication, determination and empowerment as they work together to change the world.

After seeing the film, audience members from coast to coast and around the globe asked how they can help these remarkable young global citizens reach their goals. With support in more than 70 countries and across the U.S. we established The World We Want Foundation.

The Movie Back Story

ColombiaThe inspiration for The World We Want is We The People: Project Citizen an international civics education and leadership program that is active throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries worldwide. More than 15 million young people and 400,000 teachers have participated in the program and 2 million more students are involved each year. The program is administered by the Center for Civic Education (CCE), a national and international leader in civic education (civiced.org). Congress has funded the educational program continuously since 1995.

The World We Want was funded entirely by private investment; none of the funding was from the Center for Civic Education, any government agency or any other non-governmental organization.

Bottom Line: "A practical blueprint for shifting paradigms to build better communities."

What appears to be another routine, feel-good, youth-oriented doc morphs into a motivational how-to for young activists as it gains momentum and impact. ... Sure to win converts wherever it travels, "The World we want” is a powerful and winning testament to youthful idealism and activism.

Justin Lowe - Hollywood Reporter

"Positively Inspiring!"

“The World We Want” is probably the most positive film I’ve seen all year. Following children from various parts of the globe, Director Patrick Davidson delivers a bouncy and bright view of young activists ages 11 to 16. And even though the mood is very cheery, some of the stories will creep up on you tugging at your heartstrings.

Jonathan W. Hickman - Entertainment Insiders

"We need a film like "The World We Want."

I'll admit to my own cynicism and be honest that, on a day-to-day basis, the negative issues in the various corners of the globe feel too huge for anybody to have an honest impact. And that's why we need a film like "The World We Want" to combat this feeling of insignificant human incompetence.
